James J. Reilly of Houston-based GHX Industrial (ghxinc.com), a wholly owned subsidiary of The United Distribution Group (udginc.com), was a featured speaker during the February 12 Design World Seminar Series on "Proper Hose Assembly Guidelines".
Reilly, a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, and a 40 year veteran of the industrial hose industry, was formerly the President of CV Harold Rubber Company and has served for the last five years as Region Manager for Houston-based GHX Industrial. In this capacity, Reilly is responsible for ten hose fabrication and distribution service center locations throughout the US.
He is the incoming President of NAHAD - The Association for Hose and Accessories Distribution, a globally recognized trade association with over 500 member companies and has served as a member of the NAHAD board of directors for the past six years.
In addition, Jim serves as a member of NAHAD’s Hose Safety Institute, whose purpose is to provide guidelines and testing protocols for the fabrication of safe hose assemblies and to provide a forum for addressing hose safety issues throughout the industry.
Rick Pitman serves as PSC Vice President of Environmental, Health, Safety and Transportation. Prior to becoming VP, Rick served as Health and Safety Director for the Industrial Services Division. Rick began his career as a waterblast technician in 1995 and joined PSC in 2007.
Over his career Rick has been an advocate for improving the tooling and processes for hydroblast and vacuum service lines. He has spoken at international and national safety forums such as WJTA, AFPM, NAHAD, and continues to be a leading voice to encourage automation and stronger mechanical integrity programs. He has been a primary contributor to two industry white papers and is the inventor of patent-pending water blasting equipment safety system. He is currently a member of the Hose Safety Institute.
During the recent Design World webinar, Jim Reilly and Rick Pitman outlined the proper use of hydroblast hose, from fabrication and assembly to industry drivers and field usage. Jim and Rick presented the Hose Safety Institute’s Hydroblast White Paper, which they were instrumental in writing, describing proper hose assembly guidelines with a focus on safety, quality and reliability. The White Paper is one of several resources developed with industry volunteer support by NAHAD’s Hose Safety Institute.
Richard Harrison, President of GHX Industrial, stated, "Under Jim’s leadership, GHX has developed and launched several program asset tracking mechanisms that are setting the standards for industry best practices. This includes the GHX Tracker which is a web accessible, on-line asset management tracking system and data base that among other things tracks hose inspections and creates on-site certificates of compliance."
Joseph Thompson, Executive Vice President of NAHAD, stated, "Jim has been an active member of the NAHAD membership team for many years and an integral part of the NAHAD Standards Committee which created the Hose Assembly Guidelines. Jim has also played a critical role over the past six years in influencing the strategic decisions behind the Hose Safety Institute protocols." Joe stated that he and the entire NAHAD team are looking forward to Jim’s continued leadership and his service as NAHAD President in the coming year.
